Tents For Camping: How to choose

Whether it’s summer or winter, we all know we love traveling, especially when we’re lucky enough to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of a city like Vancouver. Having the idea in mind is pretty easy but when the moment gets closer and you realize you’re not well-prepared to begin your adventure with your friends, that’s when you shake a leg and begin to buy anything that comes to your mind. Well, let me stop you just right there.

If you’re planning on going hiking for a few days, or even if you’re just beach camping, do it right and get the stuff that you need. Probably one of your biggest concerns is how and where you’re going to spend the night with your friends. Here’s the thing, since you will probably be in the middle of nowhere, you will need a camping tent, that’s for sure. -But not any camping tent- Trust me on this one, you don’t want unexpected things to happen to your new tent. If you’re reading this right now, it’s probably because you have to make a decision and you need some guidance. So, without further ado, let’s get started!

  1. Instant Nylon Tents

PROS:

  • Nylon tents are perfect for winter, but also summer. Its material keeps you warm and cozy in wet weather with its removable rain fly slips. Whereas in summer, it protects you from sun heats, providing you with the perfect ventilation that you need.
  • Usually Nylon tents are pretty easy to set up, so in this sense you won’t really struggle with that
  • They are lightweight enough. If you do long distance walks, this is probably something you’re going to be grateful for.
  • If you didn’t think of a mosquito repellent when you started your trip with your friends, you don’t need to worry too much. This type of tents have two layer-zippered doors screens that will keep the bugs out.
  • Well designed and durable nylon
  • It’s not expensive compared to other tents I have seen.
  • It has a waterproof bottom

CONS:

  • Sometimes Instant Nylon Tents don’t come with a rain fly. You will need to get one separately, and eventually you will spend more money.
  • Although I believe Nylon Tents are ideal for a short weekend trip, they’re not really intended to be used in extreme weather changes. You will need a more professional one. But again, these type of tents are perfect if you’re spending an entire weekend with your friends.
  • They can be hard to restore
  • You can only fit in with two more friends.

The second category that I will be writing about is family tents. Now, these have some pretty cool features. And I’m sure you’re gonna love it!

2. Family Tents

PROS:

  • Family tents are definitely the best option by far if you’re traveling with more than 3 people. Up to 7 people can fit in.
  • They are easy to set up
  • Not only are they ideal for big families, but also they’re great if you want to spend time with your friends overnight (let’s be honest, a night escapade without a party in your tent is no longer an escapade)
  • They’re waterproof

  • Because of their size and features, they’re usually quite expensive
  • It might be overwhelming to sleep with over 5 people in the same tent

And finally another category that might be interesting for you if you’re going on your own is the single person tent

3. Single Person Tent

  • If you are a solo traveler, this tent is the one for you!

  • You can not go wrong with this one

  • Definitely the most lightweight tent of all. Weights only about 3 lbs

CONS:

  • Poor Features
  • Limited space inside the tent. Don’t expect your tent to be as big as the first ones, especially because the tent is very lightweight.

Now that you have a better idea about tents, it’s time for you to pick the best one and begin your escapade!
