10 Tips for Camping

  1. Camp near Places/people

Getting adventurous with your friends and spending the night staring at astonishing shooting stars might sound like a lot of fun. Well, it isn’t that much of fun if in the middle of the night a bear or some other creature is staring at you instead, thinking you’re going to be his next meal. Did I scare you? Good. This is somewhat exaggerated but think about it, what would you do if you don’t actually know what to do? Exactly. Not everyone is trained enough to spend a whole night into the woods. There are two things that you can do. One is either you go with a well-prepared person or you get the training ” that you need yourself, just a few weeks before your camping adventure -but we both know that’s never going to happen-, OR two is camp somewhere you know you can get help if needed.

  2. Survival Kit

When going camping, make sure you take with you your first aid kit. Just in case you hurt yourself or someone around you does. Specially to prevent wounds from infection. Having one of those can literally save your life. Another important thing is survival kit as in food and drinks. Water is definitely the most important one. Make sure you have enough. As for food, you can have supplements. They’re small sachets and they’re lightweight, so your back will not feel any added weight.

  3. Entertainment

Don’t forget to bring something to entertain yourself. If you’re going on your own, it could be a book, a music device. And if you’re going with your friends, you can bring small board games, or maybe something just as simple as traditional cards. I will guarantee you’ll have a much more pleasant trip especially if it rains.

  4. Get the right sleeping bag

Make sure you have a comfy sleeping bag during your camping adventure. If you are planning on sleeping with your friends in the same tent, you will probably need to check that every sleeping bag fit perfectly in your tent. The best suggestion would be to try all your equipment before your camping adventure, just to be sure that they’re not too big, but not too small either. Another thing about sleeping bags you might want to have a look at, is the quality. You want to make sure that they’re warm enough for cold night but not too much either, specially if you sleep with more than 2 people in the same tent. Otherwise, it could be very overwhelming.

  7. No cooking in tents

Do not cook in your tent. As obvious as this seems  some people do cook in their tents. This can be extremely dangerous if you’re not careful enough, and even if you are, everything could just go wrong and there’s such a high risk of fire , especially because there isn’t much space for cooking in tents. On top of that, asphyxiation is very common when cooking inside, the tent won’t allow the air to come in.

  8. Lighting

Make sure you have enough lighting. Battery-powered or solar lanterns are some other good options. But if you still can’t get enough lighting, just grab an empty bottle of water and a lamp and tie it together. This way, you will generate more light.

  9. Be prepared for the rain.

This one pretty much includes everything that we’ve been talking about. This means, if rain don’t shift, you’re going to need a good sleeping bag, but most importantly a good camping tent. And we all know, when it’s raining there’s not much you can do but to stay inside and watch the rain pours. So be sure that you have all the things that you need to entertain yourself. Another important thing, do not forget to bring your rain boots in case of mud as well as your rain coat.

  10. Clean before you leave

Last but definitely not least, take your garbage with you. This seems like a little bit too obvious, but it’s not. People usually leave their trash and don’t even bother to clean their mess. They don’t respect nature. Be sure not to leave anything there.
